Exploring sustainable toy decluttering has become second nature in our household. As parents navigating our mindful parenting journey, we've learned that less can truly be more.

Sentimental Toy Storage: The Story of a White Wooden Horse
As soon as a toy or book has lost its purpose in our home, we give it onward.
I actually think it is, in ways, an emotional (not, as in sad) experience.
I feel as though I am:
*supporting other parents,
*bringing joy to another kiddo,
*helping to reduce waste, and
*relieving myself of the stress that clutter causes me [truly. Well, OK, there’s an exception: my desk.].
***So, what does this say about me?***
This pull along horse was a gift I purchased for my child when they turned one. It was simple, wooden, developmentally appropriate, and from Mama. And, I can’t part with it. It’s not about the horse. It’s about the time I spent finding something my child would love, just from me.
I’m connected to this horse. It’s a momento of all the love we put into becoming parents. Albeit all the changes that occur when we became parents, and about how proud I am of the parents we have become specifically for our kiddo. We need to stop and remind ourselves that we have made great strides in life, even when they seem so very small.
While the horse collects dust, in storage, for all but a few moments once a year, it’s perfectly placed for me to find every so often, amongst the holiday decor.
I think what this horse says about me is:
I don’t attach myself to “things” but rather, feelings and moments. That I think deeply, and in detail. That, even though I’m not a collector of things, I am a collector of thoughts. The little-white-horse-who-has-no-name reminds me that the rewards in life are the feelings you get as you evolve.
I wonder, is there something that you just can’t let go of? 🐴
